Welcome to PoingFM – Renegade Radio!
FIRST OF ALL: Please JOIN OUR SLACK CHAT: PoingFM – Slack
The language of all communication is in English. I’m pretty sure all of our Dutch crew can understand the language. If there’s something you don’t understand, feel free to ask!
My name is Maurice Steenbergen and I’m the founder of this station. I started my career as a DJ at the age of 15 (1989) and never really stopped. Highlights of my career include producing the international hit-single “Poing” (1992) and my weekly non-stop radioshow at “VeronicaFM” (1999-2001). My final contribution to the music industry was the release of the “Oldschool Renegades” documentary (2013) featuring “The Prodigy”, “Moby”, “Frankie Bones” and others.
PoingFM is a licensed radiostation from The Netherlands. We pay royalties (Buma/Sena) and are legit.
Enough about “me”, let’s talk about “us”. You are welcomed to this new initiative that I would like to think of as a community. A creative platform where we can build something great together that comes from our collective love of music. Right now there are only a handful of listeners that regularly tune in to our station. The collective promotion of all DJs to their followers will add up to a regular audience for all of us.
Are dedicated and wants to deliver great content. We are all busy, just stick to a schedule that you can maintain for a longer period of time. It doesn’t matter if it’s one show per month or one per day. As long as you can keep it up, please tell us your intended frequency of shows.
Please include your BIO and a photo for our website, you will be featured there.
The format is mainly (but not limited to): UK Bass, House, Electro, Hiphop, Indie.
This is really important. PoingFM’s sound is processed by professional FM processing that is optimised for dynamic content. Sources need to be dynamic and clear. So no compression (compressor/limiters/maximizers) and also no compression on the files (mp3/acc). Uncompressed (.wav/aif) or lossless (FLAC) audio is preferred. If you send in MP3, it better be 320kbps with good dynamics and no audible artifacts. Our stream is 320Kbit/MP3.
My own mixes are cut in seperate tracks and tagged with the orignal track information. This makes sure that all tracks are shown with the original artwork on the Poing.com website. This is preferred, but requires work. Let’s consider this “nice to have” for now 🙂
PoingFM can be accessed trough the website player (HTML5) at https://poing.com, this also includes a Winamp/VLC/Itunes playlist link. We are also featured in a couple of APPs. The latest and greatest is “Getme.radio”. I use this to listen to the station on the go (also in the car). Look up their APP in the app-stores. I have development of our own APP on the roadmap, but it’s no priority.
For now these are the shows where you can currently deliver content for:
NEW SHOWS (starting soon)
There are more shows in development, we will let you know more as it happens.
To get your OWN show will require commitment and a good format.
Let’s develop a kick-ass show together.
We can only accept uploads trough our Dropbox: https://poing.com/dropbox
The reason: it’s embedded in our workflow.
Please follow the instructions that come with it:
“Drop your shows here. 60 minutes maximum. Please send uncompressed (.WAV/AIF) or lossless (.FLAC) files together with a tracklist (.txt). Don’t decode MP3’s if that’s all you have. Strictly “No processing” policy (limiters, multiband, exciters etc).”
Last but not least: i’ve started a SLACK channel.
This will be the main form of communication for the Crew.
